Skills Workshops
Our skills workshops are designed for intermediate paddlers who want to improve their skills without a big time or money commitment. You can choose between 2 hour workshops or full day workshops. Each two-hour workshop will be held at the Ledges Park on the French Broad and will focus on one skill set. This is a great, low-cost way to get kayaking tips from top-notch instructors and step up your paddling. Our full-day skills workshops focus on a skill set and we run either the Upper Green or Section 9 of the French Broad. See below for details.
2 Hour Workshops
Improve your Combat Roll
Date: May 4th 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Cost: $75.00 (need a minimum of 4 for the class to run)
Intro to Playboating
Date: May 11th 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Cost: $75.00 (need a minimum of 4 for the class to run)
Intro to Boofing
Date: June 1st 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Cost: $75.00 (need a minimum of 4 for the class to run)
Eddies and Ferries Workshop (Enhance your river running precision)
Date: June 22nd 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Cost: $75.00 (need a minimum of 4 for the class to run)
Rolling Skills Workshop (No rolling experience necessary)
Date: July 20th 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Cost: $75.00 (need a minimum of 4 for the class to run)

Cancellation Policy: A 50% deposit is required to book your spot. The balance is due the first day of the class. 15% of the deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel before 14 days before the trip you’ll receive refund of your deposit minus the 15%. If you cancel within 13 – 0 days before the course your deposit is non-refundable. At that time credit for a future or different program may be offered.
Trip Leader Workshop (Learn how to be an effective and safe trip leader for your friends or your canoe club!)

Mother/Daughter Paddle (Come celebrate Mother’s Day with a fun day of paddling!)

Boat Based Rescue Techniques (all the rescue skills you’ll most commonly use when paddling with your friends or canoe club)
Date: May 11th 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Cost: $150.00 (need a minimum of 4 to make the class run)
Fall Class IV Creeking Prep (Must be a competent Class IV paddler willing to step it up as this workshop is held on the last 5 rapids of the Green Narrows)
